New Year's Eve in NYC!

After my time in the tropics I headed back to the US in time for a major snow storm in New York City. I'll share some of those photos soon, but today is New Year's Eve and I had to show you this special day in this special place!

It is New Year's Eve and by 3:30 in the afternoon, all traffic had been blocked from Times Square and there were already huge crowds milling around.

The spire on the building in the middle is where the famous ball drops, but no one could see it yet. These crazy people are prepared to stand where they are for 9 hours to watch it fall at midnight!!

It is all we could do to fight our way to the subway.
So on that note, Cabot wishes everyone a very happy new year!

Getting the Christmas Tree

A few weeks ago I went to Spencerport, NY to get a Christmas tree. When I got there I discovered that a celebration, Christmas on the Canal, was occurring so I decided to look around.

These nice draft horses were giving wagon rides. They wore headlights on their bridles!

This is Zackariah. He's part of the Living Nativity.

Time to get the tree.

Boy! It sure is snowing!

Which one should we pick?

The final choice! It's a Frasier Fir.

What a lovely tree. Now we need to decorate it.

Merry Christmas!

A Christmas Kiss

I got kissed on Sunday! It was a very special kiss and I consider myself lucky to have been able to experience it. Here's a picture of me and my handsome fellow.

This is Pocus, a sea lion. I went to the Buffalo Zoo and discovered some mistletoe. Hmmm. What would happen if I stood underneath it? I decided to give it a try...with a little help. Lo and behold I got a Christmas kiss from Pocus. Isn't he cute? He was so gentle too. I think I need to visit Buffalo more often...and stop and visit Pocus!

Holidays with the Horses

This morning I went to the Purple Haze Center located on the grounds of the Finger Lakes Race Track. The center is the home of The Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program. The goal is to provide new homes and careers for retired racehorses.

I love their motto: Giving horses a second chance to be winners.

This beautiful lady is Pure Shanneya. Isn't she gorgeous? She's an off track thoroughbred looking for a new home. I wish she could come home with me!

The thoroughbreds here have a lovely stable...but I'm sure they'd like a home of their own.

I enjoyed visiting the retired racehorses at the Purple Haze Center. If you have a little extra money to donate this year, I hope you'd consider giving to The Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program...or another charity that helps these wonderful athletes who are no longer able to compete on the track.
