A Day at the Races

When I retired I decided to spend a day at the races. I went to Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack in Farmington, NY to watch thoroughbred horses race.

Down the track they go, racing for the finish line! Then, getting ready for the next race! The Finger Lakes Race Track is unique. Many people are concerned about life after the track for thoroughbreds, but few people do much about it. After my visit, the Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program was founded. Located right next to the track the facility helps retired racehorses find new homes and new careers: Giving Horses a Second Chance to be Winners! According to their website The Purple Haze Center at the Finger Lakes Racetrack "is the first Thoroughbred adoption facility in the country to be run as a collaborative effort between racetrack management and horsemen". Hopefully all horses will have wonderful new homes when they retire from the track.
